For as long as I can remember summer has been my favorite of the four seasons that we (usually) have in the Midwest. I probably disliked winter a bit less than I do now when I was a kid, but I generally don’t enjoy being cold or being rained on. Up until this year I have mostly preferred whatever the summer months threw at me. Until this year…
This summer it has been brutally hot, and the number of extreme storms has increased significantly. Also, I spent many hours working outside in the heat, rebuilding the deck in my back yard. A combination of basically roasting and then being without power for days at a time due to tornadoes seems to have triggered a re-organization of my seasonal preferences. The approach of autumn, and the nice weather we have had over the last few weeks has me reconsidering things. You will never see me drinking pumpkin spice lattes, and I will probably will never really enjoy Halloween, but I am starting to be onboard with the rest of it.
