It took a while to get the new PC assembled, and then a while longer to get everything I needed moved over from the old PC, but I am finally using the new PC fulltime. So far, so good!
The new PC is beyond noticeably faster than the old one. I think it has 4 times the number of virtual CPU cores as the old one, and over all the processor is much faster. The biggest difference is probably the RAM; the old PC had 8 GB of RAM, and the new one has 64 GB of much faster RAM. The old computer also used SATA hard drives, while the new one is using an NVMe SSD.
I was a bit concerned about cooling the CPU, but thus far the temperature has stayed below 70 degrees Celsius, even with several browser tabs and VS Code open. Pleasantly surprised, though I have 8 fans running at all times inside the case. The heatsink for the processor is also massive. I opted for air cooling rather than liquid cooling mostly because it was cheaper, and I don’t intend to overclock the processor.
I am just a few hours into using this thing, but I am really enjoying it so far.
