Moving stuff over from the old PC to the new PC is pretty painless these days with all of the cloud storage available. The fact that I am kind of a minimalist makes that easier too, however loading and setting up applications that cannot simply be moved from one computer to another is still pretty tedious.
I have installed and configured VS Code and the various things that are needed in order to use that. I installed Docker Desktop, which I hadn’t actually used in years because my old PC was excruciatingly slow. I’m sure that I will encounter things that I have forgotten to set up along the way, but so far things are looking good. It takes a lot of work and re-learning of things to get to this point.
The current build is fairly “future-proof” for what I do with a computer. I may someday need to add RAM or something, but that is probably at least a couple of years down the road. The whole project has been a learning experience for sure, but not at all bad.
